このイベントでは、国境なき医師団（MSF）日本が、長崎大学熱帯医学研究所および長崎大学大学院熱帯医学・グローバルヘルス研究科と共催し、国際保健の現場に関する理解を深めるとともに、MSFのスタッフとして働くとはどういうことなのか、海外の医療現場と日本の地域医療の現場を横断したキャリアの選択肢について、関連分野で活動する複数の登壇者が、それぞれの経験と視点からお話しします。

感染症を専門とする総合診療医としてフレイル、サルコペニア、多疾患併存、持続感染症を主たる研究領域とし、長崎県五島地域およびインド・ハイデラバードでの疫学研究地域や国際共同研究を通じて加齢性疾患と感染症の関連解明に取り組む。MSFにおける医療・人道援助活動にも従事し、パプアニューギニアでの結核治療、バングラデシュのロヒンギャ難民キャンプでのジフテリア流行下の医療援助活動に派遣。
菅原 大輔（すがわら だいすけ）
内科医、DTM&H（Professional Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene）
千葉県 船橋中央病院 周産期母子医療センター 産科総合内科専門
総合病院国保旭中央病院での初期・小児科後期研修、飯塚病院での総合診療勤務を経て、長崎大学にてDTM&H取得。カンボジアにおけるJapan Heartでの成人・小児診療、熱帯感染症管理、現地医師教育への従事。HIV/TB、マラリア、デング熱、類鼻疽など多様な症例経験。2025年にはMSFの一員としてバングラデシュのロヒンギャ難民キャンプで活動した。

ロンドン大学衛生・熱帯医学大学院（LSHTM） 臨床准教授
英国で総合診療医および臨床研究者として研さんを積み、LSHTMと長崎大学にて感染症・熱帯医学・デジタルヘルスを中心とした臨床・疫学・行動学研究に従事した。これまで英国NHS、カンボジア、ラオス、フィリピン、ベトナム、マレーシアでの医療・研究活動に加え、MSFのウガンダ派遣医やベリーズでの遠征医として活動。熱帯医学に関する大学院教育を統括し、MTMやDTM&Hなど複数の国際的教育プログラムの運営と指導を担当する。
鵜川 竜也（うかわ たつや）
総合内科専門医
福島県 太田西ノ内病院 救命救急センター 医員
福島県出身、高知大学医学部卒業。初期研修後に内科・感染症の専門研修を行い、2019年より長崎大学感染症内科に所属。2020年に初めてMSFに参加し、パプアニューギニアで結核プロジェクトに従事、続いて2023年パレスチナ・ガザ地区、2025年アフガニスタンに感染症医として派遣された。国内外で感染症の診療やマネジメントに携わった経験あり。感染症学の中では、特に細菌検査が好き。現在は太田西ノ内病院で急性期診療（麻酔・救急・集中治療）の修行中。
青木 義紘（あおき よしひろ）
小児科専門医、救急科専門医、集中治療専門医

長崎みなとメディカルセンター 救命救急センター 医師
小児科学、救急医学、熱帯医学を専門とし、国内外で小児救急医療と国際医療支援に従事。ヘビ咬傷、サラセミア、バルトネラ感染症など熱帯医学領域の臨床・疫学研究を中心とする。MSFの小児科医としてシリアに派遣され、紛争下における小児病棟でサラセミアの患者の治療にあたる。現在は臨床、研究、教育を通じて国際医療の質向上と人材育成に取り組む。
中池 ともみ（なかいけ ともみ）
看護師
2005年に九州循環器病センター付属鹿児島看護学校を卒業後、6年間の臨床経験を経て豪州カーティン大学へ留学した。産科フィスチュラの問題を知り人道援助への関心を深め、2015年よりMSFに参加。南スーダン、イラク、ケニア、イエメン、レバノン、パレスチナなどで看護師活動マネジャーとして紛争被害者・難民援助活動に従事してきた。2017年に長崎大学熱帯医学研修課程修了、2023年に長崎大学ヘルスイノベーションコース修士課程修了。

疫学（感染症、生活習慣病、母子保健、がん）および保健医療情報システムを専門とし、アフリカやアジアでの国際保健研究に長年従事。米ハーバード大学で公衆衛生学修士、産業医科大学で医学博士を取得後、国立がんセンターで疫学研究に携わり、2005年より長崎大学熱帯医学研究所教授。ケニア拠点長として地域疫学、感染症サーベイランス、多疾患領域の公衆衛生研究を推進し、国際共同研究と人材育成に貢献する。
高橋 健介（たかはし けんすけ）

2009年より長崎大学熱帯医学研究所に所属。離島医療、一般病院勤務、大学病院での呼吸器・感染症・救急診療、ベトナムでの臨床研究など幅広い経験を重ね、現在は長崎市内の救命救急センターで救急診療に従事。2014年よりMSFの医療援助活動に参加し、エチオピア（2014–2015）、リベリア（2015）で活動。MSF日本の理事 (2021-2025)、副会長（2022-2025）を務めた。
スー・ミャット・ハン

長崎大学大学院 熱帯医学・グローバルヘルス研究科 助教
臨床、国際人道援助、グローバルヘルス分野で経験を重ねた臨床医・研究者として活動。ミャンマーではMSFのMDR-TB担当医として勤務し、その後は医療活動、予算管理、安全対策、緊急対応を統括するフィールドマネジャーを務める。日本およびアジア地域では、MSFのアクセス・キャンペーンを通じて医薬品の公平性向上を目的としたアドボカシー活動に従事。カンボジアではMSFのC型肝炎プログラムにおいてアドボカシー・広報マネジャーを務める。現在は臨床研究に従事しつつ、MSF日本の理事としても活動する。
Working Across Global Health Settings and Japan as a “Glocal (Global x Local) ” Health Professional
At this event, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Japan, in collaboration with Nagasaki University Institute of Tropical Medicine and the Graduate School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health, will explore key aspects of global health practice. Through talks by multiple speakers active in related fields, the event will offer insights into what it means to work as MSF staff and introduce career pathways that bridge overseas medical settings and community healthcare practice in Japan. A Q&A session will also be included.

Specialized in general medicine with a focus on infectious diseases, with primary research interests in frailty, sarcopenia, multimorbidity, and persistent infections. Engaged in epidemiological and international collaborative research in the Goto Islands of Nagasaki Prefecture and Hyderabad, India, to elucidate the relationship between aging-related conditions and infectious diseases. Deployed by MSF to Papua New Guinea for tuberculosis treatment and to the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh during a diphtheria outbreak.
Daisuke Sugawara

Trained in general internal medicine, pediatrics, emergency care, and worked as a General Physician at Aso Izuka Hospital. Completed the DTM&H at Nagasaki University in 2022. Worked in Cambodia with Japan Heart, including adult and pediatric care, training of local physicians, and management of tropical infections such as HIV/TB, malaria, dengue, and melioidosis. In 2025, participated as an MSF doctor in the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh.
Chris Smith

Clinical Associate Professor, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)
UK trained general practitioner and clinical academic with a joint appointment at LSHTM and Nagasaki University. Engages in clinical, epidemiological, and behavioral research across infectious and tropical diseases, digital health, and global mental health. Professional experience includes work within the UK NHS, rural Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, expedition medicine in Belize and Uganda with MSF. Oversees postgraduate training in tropical medicine, including the Master of Tropical Medicine and DTM&H programs.
Tatsuya Ukawa

Graduated from Kochi Medical School and trained in internal medicine and infectious diseases before joining Nagasaki University Hospital’s Department of Infectious Diseases in 2019. First participation in MSF in 2020 for a tuberculosis project in Papua New Guinea, followed by deployments to Gaza in 2023 and Afghanistan in 2025 as an infectious disease physician. Experience spanning clinical care and management of infectious diseases in both domestic and international settings, with particular interest in bacteriology. Currently undergoing acute care training—anesthesiology, emergency medicine, and intensive care—at Ohta Nishinouchi Hospital in Fukushima.

Specialized in pediatrics, emergency medicine, and tropical medicine, with broad experience in pediatric emergency care and international medical assistance. Conducts clinical and epidemiological research on tropical diseases including snakebite envenomation, thalassemia, and Bartonella infections. Deployed to Syria as an MSF pediatrician to treat children with thalassemia in a conflict affected setting. Committed to advancing global health through clinical practice, research, and training of future professionals.
Tomomi Nakaike
Nurse
Graduated from Kyushu Cardiovascular Center Nursing School in 2005. After 6 years’ clinical experience in Japan, studied at Curtin University in Australia, where she came to learn the issue of obstetric fistula, inspiring a commitment to humanitarian work. Engaged with MSF since 2015 as a nurse and Nursing Activity Manager in South Sudan, Iraq, Kenya, Yemen, Lebanon, and Palestine. Completion of Tropical Medicine Training Course in 2017 and Master’s Program in Health Innovation in 2023 at Nagasaki University.

Specialized in epidemiology including infectious diseases, non‑communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and cancer and health information systems, Having an extensive experience leading public health research across Africa and Asia, he earned an MPH from Harvard University and a PhD in Medicine from the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, later serving as section chief at the National Cancer Center in Tokyo. Since 2005, Professor at Nagasaki University’s Institute of Tropical Medicine, directing the Kenya Research Station and advancing epidemiology, disease surveillance, and international collaborative research and training.

Su Myat Han

Clinician and researcher with experience across clinical practice, humanitarian operations, and global health advocacy. Began her career with MSF as an MDR‑TB focal doctor, later managing clinical operations, budget, security, and emergency responses as a Field Manager. Subsequently worked with the MSF Access Campaign in Japan and regionally in Asia, focusing on advocacy for equitable access to medicines. Joined MSF program in Cambodia in supporting hepatitis C programs as Advocacy and Communication Manager. Currently conducts clinical research while serving for MSF Japan as a board member.
