Translation Officer (Communications Department)
Purpose of Position
- To arrange translation of web articles, texts for publication, internal documents etc. for facilitating communications in other departments under supervision.
- To proofread and edit the translated text to finish it in an appropriate form ready for its use, and maintain the quality standard of text in Japanese/English under supervision.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Principally translate texts relating to Communications practice by her/himself to use the texts on a timely manner. Also translate texts from other department by request.
- To liaise with translation companies and manage translation process and schedule.
- To keep track of notation standard in Japanese production materials.
- To recruit translation volunteers from time to time.
- To manage production cost.
Requirements
- Solid translation skills especially from English to Japanese. More than 3 year professional experience as a translator.
- Proven skills and ability to unite and edit text professionally and to produce end products.
- Computer literacy (Besides general skills, DTP's skills are desirable : Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Excellent writing skills in Japanese.
- Fluent spoken and written Japanese and English.
- Commitment to humanitarian aid wor.k
- At least 2 years valid working experience in NGO's and/or corporations.
- Time management and efficient operational style to optimize resources.
- Interpersonal skill to facilitate a teamwork and intersectional projects.
- Ability to read and speak French and the other languages used in the other MSF operational sections is a plus.
Terms & Conditions
- Salary as per the salary scale of MSF Japan.
- Commuting Allowance.
- Full-time employment (40 working hours per week).
- Social insurance; Japanese government insurances (Health Insurance, Welfare Pension and Employment Insurance).
- Holidays: Saturday/Sunday/National Holidays, Year-end/New Year Holidays and Annual Paid Holiday.s

■ Online editorial officer
Purpose of Position
- To run fresh, well formulated and appealing contents on MSF-Japan's online media platform.
- To shape and drive social media communications and viral communications to raise awareness of MSF as well as build MSF sympathizers under the direction of supervisor.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Strategic planning and creation of online content
- To plan message, content, timing and editorial policy and plan of online media content in a way to effectively outreach communication and/or fundraising targets. Regularly review and analysis the progress for improvements.
- Watch, research and analyze the trend of social media in related spheres and reflect them to the content creation strategy.
- To manage the editorial schedule and process of online content production by closely liaising with Publication editorial officer, translation officer, webmaster in addition to fundraising department (if necessary).
- To manage to collect, plan and prepare the materials (written/digital materials, photos, maps, AV,etc.)
- To regularly upload and write fresh contents on MSF-Japan's online media platform. If necessary, proofread and edit translate contents for online use.
- To take charge of creating rich contents by arranging interviews and media mix content.
- To liaise with related departments to collect and complement ideas for the online contents.
- Form and regularly revise a guideline of social media communications. Propose any improvements regarding social media platform and contents together with situation analysis and a strategic plan.
- To manage and liaise with vendors if necessary in executing online media activities.
2. Production of other written materials, others
- To draft and edit other institutional publications or materials (including non-digital, donor publications) for other usage, under the direction of supervisor.
- To engage in necessary administrative works and manage costs relating to online media activities.
Requirements
- Proven skills and ability to unite and edit text professionally and to produce end products.
- Computer literacy (Besides general skills, HTML, Movable Type), fireworks).
- Excellent writing skills in Japanese.
- Fluent spoken and written Japanese and English.
- Commitment to humanitarian aid work.
- At least 2 years valid working experience in NGO's and/or corporations.
- Working experience as editor in the publication (paper and/or online) industry.
- Time management and efficient operational style to optimize resources.
- Interpersonal skill to facilitate a teamwork and intersectional projects.
- Professional editorial and/or writing experiences.
