SAFETY AND SECURITY
MSF's primary work is to bring medical assistance to populations in danger in emergency situations. These situations involve different risks according to the situation in which our humanitarian intervention takes place.
To address these risks, MSF has put in place strict security protocols. These are rules and procedures to which expatriate and local staff must conform during their mission. They take into account the nature of the risks facing MSF personnel in the field and establish instructions to follow in case of threats and security concerns.
These security guidelines cannot and must not be considered as a protection guaranteed by MSF for its staff. They are rather designed to enable field staff to better understand their environment and the risks associated with their presence.
The field worker's behaviour and attitude always remains their best safeguard.
