MSF JAPAN 'WELCOME DAYS
Preparatory Course for first mission volunteers
MSF-Japan will hold a short training course for those going to work in the field with MSF. This course provides the opportunity to understand the reality of life in the field and the humanitarian work undertaken by MSF volunteers. It is not only for medical personnel but also for non-medical, such as logisticians and administrators. The course is presented in English.
A further Welcome Days training session will be held later in 2010. Places at Welcome Days are limited so please submit your application early to ensure you can take part if your application is successful.
Application and Selection
Applicants should submit the following documents:
* Selection for participation will be based on documents submitted and interviews (face-to-face or by phone).
* All candidates will be informed of the result of their application.
Objective
This course aims to provide essential information and knowledge of MSF field activities. It is basically for candidates who are able to leave for the field in near future and is designed to:
- Encourage participants to develop their own thoughts on MSF and to question their involvement in field work.
- Expose participants to the important issues of the field.
- Give participants an understandng of team decision-making in the field.
- Provide information on humanitarian activities generally and MSF's activities specifically.
Content
The course involves lectures, group work and role play.
