Candidates for technical positions may be asked to undertake a basic skills test.
We will notify you of the result of your interview within two weeks and talk to you about the next step in the process.
Please note that MSF does not pay for any costs involved in the interview process.
THE PREPARATION FOR DEPARTURE
Successful candidates take part in a 3 day departure preparation course "Welcome Days" specifically designed for those going on their first mission. Alternatively a specific in-depth briefing is conducted before departure.
Welcome Days aims to give first mission field workers an understanding of MSF’s philosophy, values, policies, and activities, as well as giving you a feeling of what life is really like in the field. It is also an opportunity to ask questions, meet the Field Human Resources team and other MSF staff in person, as well as hearing from returned MSF Japan field workers.
Please remember that due to the nature of MSF activities we can never guarantee you a mission and it is always possible that MSF may need to review a recruitment at the Welcome Days stage, or even later in the departure process. It is even possible that a mission may be cancelled as a field worker is already on the way to the field.
MSF Japan expects each candidate who takes part in the Welcome Days course to have seriously considered their commitment to field work with MSF.
MSF expects you to honour your commitment to go to the field with MSF if a mission is offered to you within the time frame of your availability.
Additional specialist logistics and administration training is also conducted by MSF Operational Sections.
